About W.O.R.K
Originally named the Waxholm Organisation för Reformerandet av Konst and recently re-named World Organisation Reforming Konst.
It was first registered in1994 by Swedish artists who were not affiliated to
any
recognized group or organisation but were interested in
'emotional intelligent art creation'. Their mission was to
exhibit this form of art and support artists who create art embuded
with emotional intelligence. W.O.R.K now design exhibition spaces within
private and public sponsored exhibitions, produce
and publish art review books and organize limited edition
prints on behalf of member artists.
The first exhibition
designed by WORK was in1995 at the 'Eden' culture building
in central Stockholm.
The exhibition 'the Blue Path' featured two
artists, a poet (Bosse Montgomery) and a guest painter (Denis Taylor).
After a number of small city gallery shows W.O.R.K staged the
'ArtWorkNow 96' exhibition at the Krut Gallery (1996) located within
the Kastellet near Waxholm. In 1998 the first of two major exhibitions
was delivered, 'Kliver Ut' ('stepping out') at the Rindö Art
Gallery, Rindö Castle, Sweden. It featured visual artists,
musicians and poets. 'Kliver Ut 2' was mounted at the 'Trygg Hansa Art
Expo'
at the Companies HQ in Stockholm. W.O.R.K also exhibited at
the Karolinska Terminal Cancer Department, Skandia Futures
Center,
Tornvilla Conference Center and numerous smaller open public
exhibitions. In 1998 W.O.R.K was
selected to mount an exhibition in benefit to the relatives of the 1994
MSS Estonia ferry disaster . The exhibition
'Heart 2 Art' was opened on January 11th 2002 by Mona Sahlin of
the Swedish
Government at the Steninge Palace Culture Gallery in Stockholm.
It
featured over twenty artists from nine countries and eighty one works of art.
W.O.R.K also organized and created a contemporary version of 'waiting
for
Godot'. (Beckett). The brainchild of Ulf Ekeram (Studion Theatre Stockholm) the
drama was performed four times, twice in Stockholm and twice
in Waxholm. (2001 and 2002). W.O.R.K has also exhibited at the
Mulberry
Gallery in Dorset UK 2005 (Blue Path- revisited) and at
'Art Space 24' Wellington House Manchester UK (this is not a chair)
September 2007. The 'Second Chance' exhibition is planned for 2009.
W.O.R.K
